Chickamauga Battlefield

<p>Confederates eventually used the ditch near where Heg was killed as an improvised trench. It became a bloody lane as Union artillery fired down the ditch, slaughtering the trapped Confederates.</p>

Welcome to Chickamauga Battlefield, part of Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park. The battlefield comprises 5,300 acres of hilly forests and fields where Union and Confederate soldiers clashed in the summer of 1863. Follow the tour stop signs around the park and as you arrive at each of the eight locations, select the appropriate stop number to learn more about what happened there. Pleare note that it is illegal to hold a cell phone while driving in the state of Georgia. Please park your vehicle before accessing the tour.
